Recently Louise has moved from the rural life of Pentz to the city life of Halifax and from creating with clay to expressing concepts using textiles. Her work still addresses social issues but now she uses old blankets to tell narratives about the damage we have caused to our environment, to ourselves and to each other. The intent behind this new work is to prompt us to reflect on the personal and collective suffering which we have played a role in creating and to consider what we should do differently now and in the future. The change of media from clay to textile doesn't feel like a drastic leap. As a professional artist it is just a continuation of her practice. Working with blankets has allowed her artistic statements to change in scale, in freedom of process, and to take on a wider range of topics.

The communication of ideas is the focus of her work, knowing that thoughtful ideas are the best tools we have to bring about social change.
